UN40B6000 Samsung 40 inch LED TV

The UN40B6000 Samsung LED TV is the perfect solution for anyone wanting to purchase an LED TV without spending the extra dollars on a fully featured Series 7 or 8 television. You get the same internal specs as the B7000 range but without the Internet@ TV widgets that connect to various online services.

With a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a Full HD 1080p resolution the UN40B6000 also comes equipped with advanced color reproduction resulting in a blur free, color enhanced picture that is a cut above most of the top end LCD televisions. Samsungs new LED Backlighting technology is what makes this TV stand out from the crowd. When viewing the tv the black and white images appear darker and brighter respectively resulting in a sharp, crisp picture.
This new LED TV technology allowed Samsung to produce an Ultra Slim Panel (1.2 inches in depth) that consumes 40% less power than similar LCD TV's of a similar size.

The mid sized UN40B6000 LED HDTV is competitively priced and available to buy online at the major consumer electrical outlets. To help you find the best deals please see below a comparison table below where you can find more info, latest stock levels and the lowest available price.

UN40B6000 Samsung LED TV Review

Some people just have to have the latest piece of technology adorning their homes or their palms and pockets, and more often than not it's going to be a Samsung product that makes the desirable breakthrough. What with the HDTV market being swamped with similarly priced, virtually indistinguishable sets it's nice to see a small step being taken towards revolutionising the market. That's what this Samsung LED TV is aiming at and it's part of a cutting edge family of similarly styled but variously feature-rich Samsung LED TVs that are giving consumers a glimpse at where the technology is taking us next.

The first striking feature of the UN40B6000 and indeed any other Samsung LED TV that you come across is the sheer thinness of the panel construction. It's barely 1.2" deep which makes hanging it on a wall like some kind of modern art piece an alluring proposition. This thinness is made possible because of the side lit LED technology which makes things bright and visible and requires a lot less space than traditional LCD HD TV backlighting techniques. The 40" full HD 1080p screen is handsomely housed in black plastic which tapers into red and then clear around the edge and the swivel stand is set in clear plastic, setting a sexy, sleek and stylish tone off across the board. So on paper the numbers look good and in person this Samsung LED TV certainly scrubs up well, but what about real world performance?

For the amount of money you'll spend you'd expect a top notch picture, and the UN40B600 doesn't disappoint in most of the key areas. The color tones and range is simply exquisite, complimented by rich levels of contrast. You'll be particularly impressed with the deep blacks that this Samsung LED TV can produce. The main problem is the LED lighting itself. This just isn't as evenly lit as other LCD TVs, leaving certain areas of the screen brighter than others. In the average environment this won't be a problem, but the fluctuations of the lighting won't be particularly pleasing for the fastidious looking for fidelity.

The UN40B6000 has 4 HDMI, 1 component, 1 PC and an Ethernet input. This means all of the latest HD gadgets will hook up snugly, and the Ethernet port provides a few basic interactive services like news and weather updates, though it lacks the fully fledged widget interactivity of the higher priced 7000 range of Samsung LED TV sets.

The UN40B600 is a great HD TV set. It has above average picture quality that's hard to fault and there's no doubting its stylish credentials, but it begs two questions. The first is, should this or any other Samsung LED TV really be considered as better than other comparably capable and much cheaper options just because it is thinner? The second, and perhaps more pertinent for the intended audience, is if you're spending all this money on a Samsung LED TV, why not spend a little bit more and get one with the full compliment of interactive widgets? It is of course a question of taste and of wallet depth at the end of the day, and in this price range (which is fairly sparsely populated) there's no competition.
